CM Sukhu: BJP obstructing women's pension plan

Himachal CM Sukhu accuses BJP of hindering women's pension scheme

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has accused the BJP of creating obstacles in providing a ₹1,500 monthly pension to women. While campaigning for Kangra candidate Anand Sharma, Sukhu claimed that BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, are pressuring the Election Commission to stop this pension. He mentioned that the BJP has consistently tried to block the pension scheme, but after Congress's opposition, the Election Commission allowed women to fill out the necessary forms. Sukhu assured that if BJP stops its protests and the Election Commission gives permission, the pension will be transferred within 24 hours.

Congress Government's initiatives

Sukhu highlighted the Congress government's efforts to empower women, such as increasing police reservation for women to 30%. He also mentioned that, despite financial challenges, the government has restored old pensions for 1.36 lakh employees. Sukhu accused the previous BJP government, led by Jai Ram Thakur, of corruption and neglect, claiming they mismanaged state funds. In contrast, the current government is filling 22,000 government positions, while the BJP only created 20,000 jobs during their tenure. Sukhu emphasized that the Congress party prioritizes public welfare over electoral gains.
